Vietnam weather in June

In June, the weather in Vietnam experiences hot and humid weather throughout the country. The temperatures can range from 28-34°C (82-93°F) with occasional rain showers in the northern region.

Don’t forget to pack umbrellas and raincoats if you arrive in Vietnam during June. Unless you don’t mind getting soaked, you might want to focus on a beach vacation in coastal Central Vietnam, which still offers plenty of sunshine. The sand and sea of Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc will welcome you with open arms. However, other provinces will still have interesting experiences you’d be hard-pressed to find elsewhere.

Crowds & Costs

Tourist season only picks up in mid- and late June, so if you can squeeze a trip in at the start of the month, you will encounter significantly fewer foreign visitors or Vietnamese holidaymakers. That being said, book your accommodations and travel tickets well in advance. Sales and bargains are often nowhere to be found this season, and space is at a premium.

Where to go in Vietnam in June

Lang Co Bay

After Halong and Nha Trang, Lang Co is the third Vietnamese entry on lists of the most beautiful bays in the world. It’s not difficult to see why: a gentle arc along the coastline, cool blue waters, and white sand makes this location an ideal spot to relax. You can access the bay after a 60-km trip from Hue and only 20 km from Da Nang. In addition to the beach and five-star resorts, Lang Co is also close to other interesting destinations. Bach Ma National Park boasts an example of wild nature untouched by human hands and a mountain to conquer. The zigzagging Hai Van Pass offers a majestic bird’s eye view of the surrounding scenery.

Mai Chau – Ninh Binh

The terraced rice fields shine their brightest in June. Called “staircase fields” in Vietnamese, they drape over the mountains in lush green and gold, and this month this coat gains a new, photogenic layer of sparkles as water pours from rung to rung. Standing on Thung Khe Pass gives you an excellent vantage point to see the entirety of the Mai Chau valley.

Da Nang

At this time of year, Da Nang is sunny, but not uncomfortably so. Some light rain will cool the air for a refreshing experience. You can visit the sprawling theme park – resort – entertainment complex Ba Na Hills (accessible only by cable car), and see the Golden Bridge (most recently the inspiration for a location in the Netflix series The Sandman). Climb the Ngu Hanh Son (Five Elements Mountains) to see the city from high above. The three Linh Ung pagodas offer introspective spiritual reflection, but the less esoterically-inclined can still marvel at the 67m-tall pure white statue of Quan The Am Bo Tat, the tallest in the country.

Hoi An

If you’re already in Da Nang, a day trip to Hoi An is definitely an excellent idea. Meander and wander in the streets of this former harbor merchant town as you open a window into the past. The shops are all old houses preserved to this day, and the culture and cuisine is delightfully multifaceted – as is often the case with these places where many different peoples converge.

Learn about green turtle nesting season on Con Dao

Once the site of a brutal high-security prison, today Con Dao Island is a tropical paradise and the annual temporary home of endangered green sea turtles. Every June, park rangers and volunteers carefully assist the mother turtles in laying eggs and help the hatchlings return safely to the sea. If you like to cozy up in bed early or are impatient, this experience is not for you, as you will have to essentially stake out on the beach until 2 or 3 am and get very lucky to witness the turtles.

A Detailed Guide To Traveling In Vietnam During Tet Holiday

Cruise on Thua Bon River in Hoi An

Try to arrive in Hoi An on the full moon (the 15th day of every lunar month). Walking along the shoreline of the Thu Bon River, which runs through the city of Hoi An and has become an important part of local physical and spiritual lives, is already a fantastic experience. However, there’s nothing quite like sitting in a precarious boat, wobbling against the current, and weaving expertly against other boats. You can take a four-hour cruise through the river on a more modern boat, which offers a guided tour and even barbecues, or simply a short ride in the aforementioned simple rowboats in the heart of Hoi An old town.

Enjoy the Full Moon Lantern Festival

Full moons are important spiritual events for the Vietnamese, and Hoi An capitalizes on it by organizing Full Moon Lantern Festivals every month. From 6 to 10 pm on the day, paper lanterns in the shape of lotuses are floated into the water – you can purchase some and let them go yourselves! Being among a river fantastically lit by candlelight against the dark skies and dark mirror-like water is certainly an experience not to be forgotten.

Mid-Autumn Festival – The Most Famous Festival In Vietnam

June Events & Holiday

Tet Doan Ngo

This holiday has many names: the Mid-Day (or Mid-Year) Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival (mostly in China), or, more simply in Vietnam, the Pest-Killing Festival. The origins of the name is certainly less morbid than you might assume; this is the time of year when farmers get rid of pests plaguing their crops and threatening their livelihoods. Much of the Vietnamese calendar and traditional holidays is influenced by agriculture. As they do in the fields, so they do with their bodies: people eat dishes and drink alcohol made from violet rice in order to cleanse their systems of parasites. Many bathes with special herbs for the same purpose, and some provinces cleanse themselves in the sea. This holiday is mostly a personal and familial occasion, as people stay home and prepare offerings to their ancestral altars.

Da Nang International Fireworks Festival

Since 2008, the city of Da Nang has been lit up for two days every year (barring the influence of COVID-19) as participants from around the world dazzle and stun with their extravagant fireworks display. Eight teams vie for the first prize in ten (or eleven) performances witnessed by thronging crowds by the Han River. In 2017, a complex was built for the enjoyment of spectators: a 3000-seat stadium, a 50000m2 shopping center, and six hotel-condotel towers of 46 to 51 floors each.

Within a few years of taking photographs, my works began to be recognized by many reliable international publications such as AFAR Travel, The Times, and The Daily Telegraph newspaper. In addition, I continuously add to my growing profile by winning numerous major awards: 3rd Position of The Independent Photographer 2018, 1st Position of Amateur Photographer of the year 2018, Grand Prize Winner of the AFAR Travel Photography 2019, and a Gold Award of San Francisco Bay International Photography 2020.

I photograph a wide variety of subjects, from travel to landscapes to street scenes. I enjoy documenting the East’s rich cultural heritage and its land soaked in glorious sunrise or sunset light in remote and secluded spots.
