Festivals in March

Yen The Festival

  • Time: 15th-17th March
  • Location: Phon Xuong town (Bac Giang)

Yen The Festival is a national intangible cultural heritage held at Phon Xuong – the headquarters of Yen The insurgent, directly led by De Tham in the late 19th century.

The festival lasts for three days, and during that time, many people come to attend, including locals and foreign tourists. Start with the parade and reenactment of Yen The revolutionary. After that, entertainment games are held, welcoming everyone’s participation.

Dinh Bang Festival

  • Time: 27th-31th March
  • Location: Dinh Bang town (Bac Ninh)

Every year, the Dinh Bang festival is held to commemorate three angels, namely Cao Son Dai Vuong (god of the mountain), Thuy Ba Dai Vuong (god of water), Bach Le Dai Vuong (god of the Earth), and six human gods. The ancestors of 6 clans had the merit of rebuilding the village after the destruction of the Ming army in the 15th century.

In particular, visitors to the festival also have the opportunity to learn about the rituals preserved for many generations with sacrifices and offerings, recalling the process of opening the land and the village from ancient times. Thap Ba Festival

  • Location: Vinh Phuoc Ward, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province

Thap Ba Festival is the biggest festival of the year in Khanh Hoa province to commemorate the Mother Goddess of the Land (Po Innugar in Cham). According to legend, the Mother of the Land is the woman who created the country, maintained the breed, found the rice plant, and taught the cultivation.

Elephant racing Festival

  • Time:  Every two years in the third lunar month.
  • Location: Dak Lak

Elephant Racing Festival has held annually in Buon Don (Dak Lak) or the forests along the legendary Serepok River. The competition venue is carefully selected with rules such as having an area large enough for ten elephants to run simultaneously, a few trees, a flat road, and about 2km long.
