Phan’s Custom Tailor – 92 Nguyen Huu Canh, Villa 08, D9 St, Saigon Pearl, Binh Thanh District
Effusive online reviews have earned this establishment TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellent for three years in a row. Phan’s specialty lies in clothing gentlemen – not only single customers but also large parties requiring three-piece suits in a matter of days for special occasions. That being said, they also cater to women and offers a diverse array of material and styles.
H&D Tailor – Store no. 5, New World Saigon Hotel, 76 Le Lai (enter on Pham Hong Thai Street)
Located in the upscale New World Saigon Hotel, H&D is run by a third-generation member of a family with over 40 years of experience in tailoring. They claim to be the first choice for apparel for entrepreneurs and leaders, both in Vietnam and around the world. Unlike other shops, H&D maintains quality control by using in-house fabric and doesn’t accept customer- brought material. The price is not cheap (compared to South East Asian standards, but still cheaper than some other parts of the world) and non-negotiable; higher-end fabrics can run you $800 or more. The turnaround is about 10 days, but many customers agree that it is worth the wait. It is highly advised to go to H&D with plenty of time in advance for adjustments for best results, especially if you have a “non-standard” body type. If you have to leave before receiving the final product, or wish to order from abroad, they ship almost everywhere in the world.
