Day 1: Hello Hue and Da Nang (D)

On arrival at Da Nang international airport, our guide & driver will pick you up and then transfer you to the hotel to drop off luggage and get some rest. A short meeting will be held in the afternoon before starting our first shooting at Thien Mu Pagoda while enjoying the sunset over the scenic perfume river. There will be a sumptuous Vietnamese Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant afterward.

Note: the first-day schedule could be modified and changed to meet your time of arrival.

    Day 2: Hue- Emperor & colorful incense (B, D)

Dive into culture and gorgeous sunrise light with the view of fishermen casting their colorful nets. After that, we will return to the hotel for breakfast. Once we are ready, make our way to a village to photograph the process of making colorful incense sticks and then step into history at the gloriously exotic grounds of Emperor Tu Duc’s tomb. Free shoot as you wish, and/or stick with the team as they work the scene for images. Thien Mu Pagoda and monastery are next up, followed by afternoon & sunset at Tam Giang Lagoon and its surrounding villages.

Day 3: Hue Imperial city- handicraft village – lagoon (B, L)

The day starts with the glorious grounds of the Imperial City w/ professional Ao Dai models. The approach here on this incredible “set” is as if you’re on assignment for a travel or fashion magazine. After the shoot, it is time to explore more of the ancient city. Thanh Tien handicraft village is the next stop of the day. The village is known for making paper flowers and once you step your foot here, you will see the whole village is in an explosion of colors. After lunch, we will explore Chuon Lagoon and its surrounding villages where our shoot focuses on rural lifestyles and the magnificent sunset.

Day 4: Sunrise at Tam Giang lagoon- a scenic drive to Hoi An (B, L, D)

Traveling in Vietnam requires a lot of patience, especially for photography travel because we have many spectacular places to capture sunrise and sunset unlike elsewhere. And, the sunrise in Tam Giang lagoon will not disappoint you with its colorful and nostalgic sunrise. Return to the hotel for breakfast and get ready for a scenic 3-hour drive along the coast that is considered one of the most beautiful drives in the country. Go past Da Nang, we get to the UNESCO World Heritage Site- Hoi An. We shall settle at a historic design hotel in Hoi An Old Town before our guide takes you on another adventure. Besides a specific portrait and culture-in-action backgrounds/scenes with impromptu and/or arranged models, you could wonder on your own finding the best moment of the town as well. Gathering at the Japanese Bridge to witness the stunning twilight.

Day 5: Hoi An ancient town (B, D)

The UNESCO World Heritage Site of old Hoi An was once the busiest port on the South China Sea, ruled by the Champa Dynasty for 14 centuries. Today’s shooting begins at a local fishing village, where nets wriggling in silvery fish glinting in the morning sun are raised from stilt platforms. Catch the colorful morning market on the way back. This afternoon we will head to the rural village in Hoi An to get to know the locals and get more opportunities to capture the beauty of the town from different angles.

Day 6: Hoi An – Da Nang – Nha Trang – Doc Let (B, D)

There will be loads of wonderful sunrise shoots on this trip but we can’t miss the sunrise at the lively market on the beach which has a layer of boats with local people trading fish. After checking out the hotel, we will go to Da Nang for a short flight to Nha Trang – a well-known beach resort city. On arrival at Cam Ranh airport, drive to Doc Let up the coast. Check into the hotel & get to bed early, for tomorrow begins well before sunrise!

Day 7: Salt of the Earth in Doc Let – Phan Rang (B, D)

At Ftripvietnam, every photo tour endeavors to bring our photographers to at least one very special, off–the–beaten path location: the Salt Fields of Hon Khoi. The salt ponds of Khanh Hoa are perhaps the most photogenic anywhere on earth. The scene of workers, salt, and reflective pools is like a tropical arctic, and at its best borders on the surreal. The afternoon will find you at another great scene to the south, highlighted by green fishing net weaving in a nearby village and the vast dunes of the now vanishing Cham tribe, and a visit with a wonderful Cham family whose daughters have rare blue eyes (if she has to go to school & not available, we will find other option to photograph).

Day 8: Sea of Sand in Phan Rang – The vanishing tribe Cham (B, L)

Sunrise over the vast dunes with working Cham people makes for some stunning scenes and often fun photography.  The afternoon will guide you to another great scene to the south to a nearby village and the vast dunes of the now vanishing Cham tribe, and a visit with a wonderful Cham family whose daughters have rare blue eyes.

Day 9: Farewell Phan Rang (B)

Enjoy your last hearty breakfast at the hotel and feel free to relax or explore more of the city before getting transferred to the airport and flying home with wonderful memories (not including late check-out for the hotel).

    Founder & Photography Guide

Specialties: Culture, landscape, portrait, hiking, active and adventurous tour

Besides my unlimited passion for traveling, a professional tour guide for over a decade, I have been taking photographs since sitting at Hanoi of the University of Culture in the early 2000s. Photography started as a hobby but it was seriously taken due to my work relations and my significant passion for the beauty of our world, especially in Southeast Asian parts such as Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar.

Within a few years of taking photographs, my works began to be recognized by many reliable international publications such as AFAR Travel, The Times, and The Daily Telegraph newspaper. In addition, I continuously add to my growing profile by winning numerous major awards: 3rd Position of The Independent Photographer 2018, 1st Position of Amateur Photographer of the year 2018, Grand Prize Winner of the AFAR Travel Photography 2019, and a Gold Award of San Francisco Bay International Photography 2020.

I photograph a wide variety of subjects, from travel to landscapes to street scenes. I enjoy documenting the East’s rich cultural heritage and its land soaked in glorious sunrise or sunset light in remote and secluded spots. And, I am very happy to share my knowledge and experience with you. You can visit Luminousvietnamtour to explore tour!
