We then board an upstream cruise on the Mekong River and stop at Ban Xieng Mene, Wat Chomphet and Wat Long which gives us a panoramic view of the tranquil countryside. Visiting Pak Ou Caves which is a sanctuary consisting of two large caverns, both repositories for thousands of Buddha images will be the main activity for the afternoon. Day 3: Luang Prabang – Kuang Si Fall (B, L, D)
Every dawn in Luang Prabang, the streets are filled with leisurely processions of saffron-clad monks participating in Tak Bat: The Alms-Giving Ceremony, one of the wonderful ancient traditions of the Buddhist Land of a Million Elephants, drawing visitors from all over the world to visit and observe or even participate and today, the Alms-Giving Ceremony will be our optional early start. Then back to the hotel for our hearty breakfast. Start our last day with a visit to The National Museum at the former Royal Palace, which displays a lovely collection of artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture throughout the ages. Feel free to venture into town and stroll around the shopping areas if that are your things. From there we will drive to the beautiful Khouangsi Waterfalls where you can swim in the turquoise pools or walk along forest paths. Picnic lunch served – subject to weather conditions. Today, we will also visit several of local villages which are the home of the minority people such as Ban Thinkeo (Hmong), Ban Thapaene (Khmu) and Ban Phanom (Thai Lu). Making silks and cottons are the main way to pay cost of living in this area. Return to the hotel and get ready for a delicious meal at a local restaurant in the city.
Day 4: Farewell Luang Prabang (B)
After having your last hearty breakfast, spend your morning explore the town as you wish before our driver transfers you to the airport for your next destinations.
